Geemarc Clearsound CL8200 Review

Geemarc Clearsound CL8200 In this day and age a mobile phone is almost a necessity and most of us have one even if it's 'just for emergencies'. One thing you have to remember is that the clarity of sound through a mobile phone isn't as good as that through a landline phone however good your hearing is. But most people who are hard of hearing should be able to cope well with a mobile phone designed for their needs.

The
is a straightforward amplified mobile phone for anyone that values functionality over frills. You won't find games or a camera on this phone but you will find an easy to use everyday mobile phone suitable for most people with hearing difficulties.

How Easy To Use Is It?

The phone is designed to be intuitive so that even those with little technical ability can find their way around without the need to keep referring to the manual instructions.

The ringer can be turned up to a very loud level. Fortunately there is also a vibrating mode for when you don't want to annoy people on the train every time your phone rings.

The phone has good amplification to boost the sound of the person speaking but no tone adjustment button for altering treble and bass levels. The speaker phone facility can also be set to a higher level than normal.

Geemarc CL8200 The buttons are not only a good size but they are also well spaced which is good if you have dexterity problems or large fingers. A particularly good feature is the charging pod or dock which means that you just place the
into the dock when you need to recharge it. This is much easier than fiddling with cables as found on most mobile phones. This is a real bonus if you have problems with your fingers.

There are three speed-dial buttons with the one in the middle marked with a heart which is designed to be used as an emergency button if you wish. Unlike some other specialist mobile phones the CL8200 doesn't have a dedicated SOS button feature.

The text is easy to use but isn't predictive. However instead of having to press the buttons repeatedly to get the letter you want they appear on screen for you to select. You can see this in action in the video below. You can change the font size on the screen to whatever suits your needs to make things easier for yourself.

The phone is hearing aid compatible if your hearing aid has a telecoil. Just set it to the 'T' setting. The phone's hearing aid compatibility rating is T4/M4 which is the top rating for mobile phones. The RNID also reported it did well in tests when used with hearing aids set to the 'T' setting.
